Yiannis Koukis │ Works & Projects
Editor: Panayotis Tsakopoulos
Production: Reflections Architects’ Files
Potamos Publishers & Booksellers, Athens 2018
Architect Yiannis Koukis (b. 1941, Athens) has been active in Greece since the mid-1970s, collaborating for a long period with his friend and younger fellow student at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic, Angelos Altsitzoglou (1945–2005), and at times with other architects. His work clearly differentiates itself both from international functionalism and late modern formalism as well as from postmodern iconography, pursuing from the beginning an investigation into the anthropological, spatial, and geometrical components of architectural work. Yiannis Koukis’s architecture, as well as his discourse on architecture, is subject to multiple readings, some of which are attempted by the six authors, architects and theorists, who contribute essays to this bilingual edition, which aims to introduce the architect’s work to a wider international audience.

Vassilis Bogakos. Architecture
Production – Edition editing: Reflections Architects’ Files – Panagiotis Tsakopoulos Potamos Publishing, Athens 2017
The name of Vassilis Bogakos is associated with the generation of post-war modernity in Greece and the ideological, technological, and formal codes of Western modernism. However, his architecture is characterized by explorations and experiments in different directions, including both convergences and divergences from the internationalist canon.
Alongside works dominated by internationalist syntactic codes, there are studies and implementations that choose the materiality of the brutalist style or the sensitive integration into the traditional environment, or conversely, technological expressiveness, and, of course, a graphic version of plasticity that gives the surface of the wall “its own vibration, to the point of competing with the architectural writing itself.”
The book Vassilis Bogakos. Architecture aims to reposition the architect within the Greek architectural scene and, through its bilingual edition, aspires to introduce his work to a wider international audience.
