29.03.2022
The Hellenic Institute of Architecture, within the framework of the 18th cycle of Lectures by Greek Architects, inaugurated a new concept titled “Lectures & Dialogues,” which involves the parallel presentation of the work of two architectural offices followed by a dialogue between them and with the audience.
The first event of this cycle took place on March 29, 2022, at the restaurant of the Benaki Museum on Piraeus Street and was video recorded by BLOD. The lectures and their accompanying presentations are available at the following link:

The Lectures of Greek Architects have historically been an emblematic institution of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture (EIA), as over the past two decades, significant creators have been invited to present their work. The presentation of the diverse expressions of architectural work, as well as their critique, have been timeless characteristics of this initiative. This new experimental format can provide the opportunity for public discussion about architecture and its relationship with institutions and the processes of its production and evaluation, as well as its multiple manifestations in both private and public spaces. The overall coordination of the lectures on behalf of the EIA Board of Directors is carried out by Anastasios Kotsiopoulos, Architect, Emeritus Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), Dionysis Sotovikis, Architect, and Sofia Tsiraki, Architect, Associate Professor at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA).
The first lecture of the cycle featured the participation of:
Alexandra Vougia – Platon Isaias / Fatura Collaborative
PATIOS, COURTYARDS AND GARDENS – SPACES OF DWELLING AND CARE:
The presentation describes and analyzes the methodological tools that organize the compositional process and the organizational structure of selected projects of the office. The role of typology, the exploration of methods for representing architectural form, and more generally the communication of the architectural work, constitute a central element of research and reflection. At the same time, we are concerned with emerging possibilities and forms of life that create new conditions of coexistence, tolerance, and solidarity. How do these constitute new spatial conditions and forms of dwelling?
Leonidas Papalabropoulos – Georgia Syriopoulou / Papalabropoulos Syriopoulou Architecture Bureau
SAMPLING: An evaluation of the office’s work is attempted through the appropriation of practices such as sampling, shifting, stitching, and secondary editing in the production of architectural work.
The discussion was moderated by Sofia Tsiraki.
