Material Matters Vol. 6: Marble and Stone

The 6th architectural event of the “Material Matters” series, organized by ek magazine, took place on Friday, May 16, at the Megaron Concert Hall.
The event was held under the auspices of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture.

The aim of the Material Matters events is to highlight the importance of a range of contemporary and traditional materials and their applications in architecture, through theoretical approaches and the work of Greek architects. Starting from the history of each material and its constructive or expressive characteristics, the presentations focus on the possibilities of utilizing it with modern terms, as shaped by economic and technological developments.

Material Matters Vol.6 was dedicated to a family of materials with lasting significance for Greek architecture: Marble and Stones.
Ten speakers from the fields of architecture and design analyzed the role of marble and stones in architecture, both in their own work and in selected projects by other architects, through engaging 10-minute presentations.
