Material Matters Vol.4 – Light
29.05.2023
The 4th architectural event of the “Material Matters” series, organized by ek magazine, took place on Monday, May 29, 2023, in the atrium of the Benaki Museum (138 Pireos St.).
Since 2019, the architectural magazine ek has established an annual series of events under the title “Material Matters,” focusing on the importance of materiality in the architectural and construction production of Greece.
The goal of these events is to highlight the significance of a range of modern and traditional materials in shaping form, function, and ultimately meaning in architecture, through theoretical approaches and the work of Greek architects.
The presentations focus on the history of each material, its constructive and expressive characteristics, and the potential for its use under new conditions, driven by developments in technology and the economy.
Material Matters Vol.4 was dedicated to an immaterial dimension of architecture: Lighting.
