The Hellenic Institute of Architecture and the company ALUMIL announced an international architectural competition in the municipality of Dionysos called ARXELLENCE for the design of a municipal nursery and a multipurpose hall, based on principles of sustainable design and the optimal application and showcasing of innovative products by ALUMIL.

The project concerns the design of a building developed on two levels. The ground floor would include an Infant and Toddler Care Unit, with a capacity of 6 infants and 15 toddlers, while the first floor will house a Multipurpose Hall. The design should prioritize the smooth and efficient operation of the entire complex, the relationship between built and open space, and its environmental footprint.

Despite the more restrictive parameters of the plot, the aim was to ensure the unobstructed operation of the building, its optimal orientation for maximum energy autonomy, and a landscaping plan for the unbuilt area that combined vegetation design with the creation of a well-organized outdoor space.

On the occasion of new questions raised regarding the Arxellence competition, the Hellenic Institute of Architecture clarified that this is an ideas competition. The Municipality of Dionysos designated a specific plot of land so that the competition would not be a purely theoretical exercise, but instead address real needs. It is understood that if the Municipality decided to implement the project, it would follow the procedures required by applicable legislation.
