Urban Sign
21.01.2016-27.02.2016
DESCRIPTION
It was a structure that would function as an information point for activities and events taking place permanently, periodically, or for a limited time. The structure would be placed in an outdoor space, such as a square or a pedestrian street, and should have been clearly visible from a distance. The Urban Sign should have been assembled on-site and easily installed without special ground adaptation works, so that it could be disassembled and removed without leaving permanent marks. The load-bearing structure would be made exclusively of wood. The non-load-bearing elements, such as claddings, could also be made of wood or other materials, but in limited quantities.
EVALUATION CRITERIA:
- The architectural quality of the proposal and its energy self-sufficiency
- The ease of assembly/disassembly of the structure without leaving traces
- The economy of construction and its transportation
Eligibility to participate in the competition was granted to all female and male students of Greek Architecture Schools who had not graduated by the submission deadline. Excluded from the competition were any individuals involved in the preparation and drafting of the competition program, members of the jury, as well as persons directly connected professionally or closely related (first-degree relatives) to them.
