HIA Architecture Award 2022

On Friday, December 9th, at 19:00, the award ceremony for the “Architecture Award 2022” of the Hellenic Institute of Architecture took place at the Benaki Museum on Pireos Street. This was followed by the opening of the exhibition, which included all the entries.

The Architecture Awards represent the highest distinction for completed projects and were established for the first time in Greece in 2000 by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture. The awards, which are presented every four years, aim to highlight contemporary Greek architecture, recognized for its high aesthetic, functional, and construction quality, as well as its harmony with the environment.

The “HIA Architecture Award 2022” concerned architectural projects, regardless of scale or typology, that are located in Greece and were completed between 2017 and 2022. Out of the 97 submissions received, eleven projects were selected for the shortlist.

The evaluation of the projects under consideration for the award took place in two stages, by different committees, which also included the architects who were awarded in 2017. Of particular importance for the final judgment was the visit by the members of the second jury to the shortlisted buildings, focusing on the spatial experience and discussions with the architects and their users. 

The members of the juries were the architects (a) Panagiotis Tournikiotis, Tilemachos Andrianopoulos, Zisis Kotionis, Michael Raftopoulos, Fania Sinanioti (b) Elias Constantopoulos, Bouki Babalou-Noukaki, Alkmene Paka, Dionisis Sotovikis, Vaggelis Stylianidis.
