9th Biennale of Young Greek Architects – EXTENSION
25.06.2018
EXTENDED DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS TO THE 9TH BIENNALE OF YOUNG GREEK ARCHITECTS UNTIL MONDAY, JUNE 25, 2018
The Hellenic Institute of Architecture, as part of its activities for the development of contemporary Greek architecture, announces a call for entries for the 9th Biennale of Young Greek Architects. The aim of the Biennale is to gather a representative sample of the work of young architects, to highlight emerging creators, and to foster an exchange of ideas concerning the development of architectural thought and the production of architectural work in Greece today.
Eligible to participate are architects up to 45 years of age, submitting realized works or unbuilt proposals, provided the latter correspond to actual design commissions (including projects that have received distinctions in competitions). Student projects are not accepted. All submissions will be exhibited, and the selected works will be presented in detail and published in a dedicated catalogue to be issued by the HIA. A conference will also be organized at the exhibition venue, with invited speakers, aiming at a critical assessment of the collective body of work.
For this year’s Biennale, the HIA has decided to enhance the role of the selection committee by inviting prominent theorists and architects to reflect on the submitted material and select the works for the exhibition. In this way, visitors will be able to explore not only the judges’ selections but also their written reasoning.
The five-member selection committee includes the President of the HIA, Elias Constantopoulos, and architects Konstantina Kalfa, Theoni Xanthi, Panos Tsakopoulos, and Kostas Tsiambaos.
The exhibition is scheduled to take place at the Benaki Museum (Pireos Street Building) from September to November 2018, alongside the publication of the exhibition catalogue.
