10th Biennale of Young Greek Architects – EXTENSION
28.07.2020 - 30.09.2020
EXTENSION OF SUBMISSION DEADLINE FOR THE 10TH BIENNALE OF YOUNG GREEK ARCHITECTS UNTIL WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, 2020
The Hellenic Institute of Architecture, as part of its activities to promote contemporary Greek architecture, announces a competition for the selection of works for the 10th Biennale of Young Greek Architects. The aim of the Biennale events is to gather a representative sample of the activities of young architects, to highlight new creators, and to facilitate the exchange of views regarding the development of architectural thought and the production of architectural work in Greece today.
Submissions to the Biennale are accepted from licensed architects up to 45 years of age and may include both realized projects and unrealized proposals, provided they correspond to real commissioned studies (including projects that have been awarded in competitions). Student works are not permitted. All submissions will be exhibited, and the selected works will be presented in detail and published in a relevant catalogue issued by the Hellenic Institute of Architecture. Concurrently, a seminar will be organized at the exhibition venue with invited speakers aimed at a critical assessment of all the works.
The 10th Biennale introduces the Critical Essay Award on the trajectory of architecture in Greece in the 21st century and its prospects. Submitted essays must be original and unpublished, and not scheduled for publication prior to the exhibition’s completion. Award-winning essays will be published in the exhibition catalogue.
The five-member jury consists of architects Kostas Adamakis, Nikos Vratsanos, Zisis Kotionis, Dimitris Potiropoulos, and Sofia Tsiraki.
The exhibition of works is already scheduled to take place at the Benaki Museum, Pireos Street, from December 2020 to January 2021, alongside the publication of the catalogue.
